Who am I? Well I am me of course! At least that is what I think! Blog Response Week 6

Blog Response 6
Prompt/Essay 5
Since I am not looking at a mirror constantly I am not totally sure what all my nonverbal cues are that I project to others. I do know that I tend to make myself smaller or tighten myself up if I am annoyed and want to be left alone. When I am pretty much in a “whatever” kind of mood I tend to just have my body spread out all lazily about. When I am in an upbeat kind of mood my body is a bit bouncy and a little bit all over the place.
In general the vibe I think I give off the most is one that just says, “I am Mr. Nice guy.” It seems I just ooze the whole dude who is extremely friendly and what not. People tend to just talk to me about whatever. I do enjoy the this vibe though since most of the time I can get people feeling relaxed to point where I can get them talking about private matters that they normally don’t or wouldn’t chat about with others or in public in general. If people see me walking around campus I am normally just listening to music or just walking on a stroll to get around and see what other people are doing and perhaps find someone interesting in the process.
I know I make weird funny faces when I am concentrating or getting into something very interesting. Normally I probably either have a dopey grin when I am in a good mood or just laid back and other than that probably just plain old whatever floats your boat kind of look on my face. To be honest I am going off what I think and what I have been told by others when I am ask them these weird kinds of questions. Sometimes I wish we humans came with built in mirrors.
I tend to dress up in a way that would make people look at me, like wearing a unique, funny, cool, or original looking shirt. I tend to put funny or cool looking buttons on my hats, bags, and the like. I like to have key chains on me and I tend my hair done in a certain way, not so much now since I am pretty much just letting it grow out and shaggy.
I like to think I have a good mental attitude. I tend to not judge what people look like, what they like to do, or how they think. In general I like to think in a positive and be upbeat about things. I like to look for the good in things rather than the bad. In general I am trying to push my comfort zone and by doing so I have obtained new contacts and was able to do things that I would normally do.
Of course this is what I think of myself and there are two categories that describe what people truly are, those being who you think you and then secondly what others think you are. I can only judge myself so much before it starts looking weird. I do love to hear what others think about me though.

  1. I think it would be a amazing if people had built in mirrors and could see how ugly they are acting at a moment. Some people think because they are good looking, ugly, white, black, mexican, etc. that they are better than everyone around them and entitled to anything they want. I do not care what a person looks like, but when they act like that I cannot stand them and I always wish that they could see themselves I bet if they did some of them would be very embarrassed.
I also wish people could actually understand body language. Like when you are all tensed up because you just want the person to leave you alone and then they stay and keep talking to you because you do not have the heart to tell them bye or they just do not care and keep talking. I know when I am at work people will want to stay and chat with me at my register and I can get in trouble for that especially when it is very busy and they can see me looking from them to my line that is forming behind them and if I ask them to move so I can help the next costumer I can get in trouble as well, it is definitely a lose-lose situation. Sometimes I wonder if they can see that I am obviously worried and just do not care or if they are really that unobservant. It is very true there always two ways you can be seen the way you see yourself and how others see you.

  2. You know, this might sound weird but the way you describe yourself is definitely the way that I saw you just based off of reading your blogs in this class. Your writing is relaxed and the way you’ve decorated your Blogger profile really fits the person that you described in this entry. I’m very opposite of you. I’m pretty tense most of the time and just “go, go, go” - constantly on the run. But I do tend to be the person that most people go to when they need to talk. Like you, I also tend to have people tell me things they usually wouldn’t tell others and certainly never say in public. Based on this, maybe I have a different perception of myself than others have of me?
It’s really great that you’re so laid back and you seem like such a people person. There needs to be more people like that. I also think it’s great that because you yourself are so unique that you don’t really judge others based on how they look or what they wear. You sound like a really great person and it seems to me that you can channel that into your body language!
